Woman shot in Pleasantville was just there for Bingo games

  • News

An Atlantic City man has been arrested in a shooting that wounded a woman attending games at the Bingo Hall in Pleasantville, police said.
The 54-year-old Pleasantville woman was in the parking lot of the Homestead Apartments on Sunday night when she was shot in both legs, Capt. Matt Hartman said.
The woman, whose name is not being released, was not the intended target.
Police found 10 shell casings at the scene. Vehicles in the area and the building were also damaged in the gunfire.
William Perkins was found leaving the area in a cab, and was arrested, Hartman said.
The quick capture of the suspect was greatly helped by the work of communications personnel who were able to get information out quickly tot he responding officers, Hartman said.
Perkins, 31, is charged with two count of aggravated assault — one for the woman struck and one for the unnamed target who was not injured.
He also faces multiple counts of criminal mischief and weapons offenses, including possession of a defaced firearm and possession of a high-capacity magazine.
Perkins is in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
The victim was treated for her injuries and released.
