Woman arrested for DUI after crashing into Lower Township home

A Villas woman was arrested after she struck a home while allegedly driving under the influence with illegal prescription drugs in her car.
Joanne M. Thomas, 63, crashed into the residence on Sandlewood Road at about 1:20 p.m. Thursday, police said.
Officers arrived to find Thomas trying to get out of her green Jaguar XJ6 through the passenger door as the car was lodged in the side of the home on the 400 block of Sandlewood in Lower Township, according to the report.
The impact caused part of the home's foundation to crack.
Thomas signed a refusal for care at the scene, but then was put through a field sobriety test after officers investigated further, police said.
She was then arrested for being under the influence of drugs/alcohol.
Thomas was issued multiple motor vehicle summonses, including driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and failure to produce required documents.
She was also found to be in possession of prescription-level medication without a prescription and issued a criminal complaint summonses for possession of prescription legend drugs, a fourth-degree crime.
She was released on a summons.
Once the scene was deemed safe by the township building inspector, the vehicle was towed from the scene as per John’s Law.
The accident was investigated by Patrolman William Kocis and Sheriff's Officer Michael Harkin, with assistance from Patrolmen Jennifer Anzelone and Jason Felsing.
