Man accused in Stockton rapes facing criminal charge for Snapchat post

  • Crime Courts

A Wildwood man being sued for allegedly raping two Stockton University students faces criminal charges related to one.

Zachary Madle, 25, was charged in April with invasion of privacy for recording a sexual act without consent, court records show.

But Madle didn't even have consent for the sex itself, according to a lawsuit filed in federal court.

A woman identified only as M.R. claims Madle — a bartender at the Flow House — brought alcohol to her dorm room, drugged her drink and then raped her.

The woman, who says she blacked out, “woke up naked, confused, choking and covered in vomit,” according to the lawsuit. She later found three Snapchat stories showing the alleged sex assault, including one in which she was naked.

M.R. allegedly asked Madle to take down the Snapchat stories. But he left up the one of her naked, the lawsuit claims.

The posts earned him texts calling him "King of Snapchat," according to the lawsuit. Stockton did not investigate, the suit alleges.

But the woman did file charges with the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.

Madle does not appear to have any previous criminal charges, according to a search of the courthouse records.

Attorney Robert Fuggi — who represents M.R. and another alleged victim, K.S. — said he expects more women to come forward about Madle now that this has garnered public attention.

"M.R. is a very brave young woman to have come out," he told BreakingAC. "She didn’t know what the response would be... I think there's going to be more. It just seems like there's just an environment there (at Stockton)."
