Ventnor woman charged in killing of mother, grandmother to be extradited Aug. 2

A Ventnor City woman charged with fatally beating her mother and grandmother with a nightstick will be extradited from New York City on Aug. 2, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner said Wednesday. Heather Barbera, 41, allegedly beat her mother and grandmother inside their eighth-floor Vassar Square Condominiums, robbed them and fled to New York on a bus. She is currently in the Rose M. Singer Center, a women's facility on Rikers Island. Elaine Rosen, 87, and her daughter Michelle Gordon, 67, were found dead at about 10:25 a.m. July 8. The cause of death for both was determined to be multiple blunt-impact injuries. It has not been revealed why or how Barbera had a nightstick. She si charged with two counts of murder, along with possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and robbery. This is a joint investigation between the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Ventnor City Police Department.
