Man arrested in Atlantic City with two guns, 1,600 bags of heroin, police say

A man recently sentenced to probation was arrested in Atlantic City with drugs and two guns, according to new charges.
Gerald Spence, 25, was arrested after Detective Nick Beradis got a tip that a man was distributing heroin and in possession of a weapon, Sgt. Kevin Fair said.
Detectives followed Spence to Iowa and Pacific avenues, where they saw him with a large bag, according to the report. As the detectives approached, Spence had a bag of cocaine in his hand.
He was taken into custody.
Further investigation found he was in possession of two loaded handguns, 1,600 bags of heroin, 38 grams of marijuana, a small amount of cocaine and $4,323 in cash, Fair said.
Spence, who has addresses in Atlantic City and Galloway Township, was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, two counts each of unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon while committing a CDS offense, and a single count of possession with intent to distribute, possession with intent in a school zone, possession with intent within 500 feet of a public zone, and certain person not to possess a weapon.
Spence was sentenced to two years’ probation in February as part of a plea deal from a drug and conspiracy case from last year, court records show.
He is now in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
