Video chat allegedly brought shooter to Pleasantville football game

  • News

A FaceTime chat brought a violent street beef to the crowded bleachers of a Pleasantville high school football game, an affidavit shows.
Alvin Wyatt is charged with three counts of attempted murder in the Friday night shooting that left a 10-year-old critically wounded.
But it was another man who alerted Wyatt that his intended target was at the game, the detective's report shows.
It was "petty vengeance" that sparked the shooting that targeted 27-year-old Ibn Abdullah, according to Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon Tyner.
Abdullah was also badly injured in the shooting.
Shahid Dixon told investigators he was at the game FaceTiming with Wyatt, when he told him that Abdullah was there, according to the affidavit.
Dixon is one of four men arrested in a car that allegedly fled the game.
All four are jailed on weapons offenses, including possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
Dixon previously served a three-year prison sentence in a 2011 drug and guns case. He is currently in Atlantic County's Recovery Court for a 2017 charge.
An off-duty police officer told investigators that he saw three black males walk calmly from the field, enter a blue BMW with a Pennsylvania tag and "aggressively exit the parking lot," according to the affidavit.
An Absecon police officer later tried to pull over a car matching that description on Route 30, heading toward Atlantic City. The car kept going, but was finally stopped in the area of McKinley and Ohio avenues in Atlantic City, after Tyrell Dorn said he threw a handgun out of the window while on the Route 30 bridge.
A 9mm semi-automatic handgun was later found in that area.
But the fiancee of one of those suspects insists that the men in the vehicle were not connected to the shooting.
"He got out of harm's way like everyone else and is saddened by the tragedy that took place," said Crystal Holmes on behalf of Vance Golden.
She said Golden has two small children "and would never knowingly be involved in such a matter."
"We send prayers and comfort to those injured, to the families and entire community," she said.
Meanwhile, no details have been given as to the motive.
Wyatt and Abdullah share a family connection. Abdullah and one of Wyatt's sisters have a daugher together.
Wyatt, 27, was arrested at the scene wearing the same hooded dark jacket and gray sweatpants seen in video of the shooting captured by a television cameraman, according to the detective's report.
A semi-automatic handgun was found under the bleacher's handicap ramp, where Wyatt was seen running toward after the shooting, the affidavit states.
Abdullah also is now charged with weapons offenses as well after a 9mm semi-automatic handgun was found in his waistband. He has a prior conviction for aggravated assault.
Wyatt, Dixon, Dorn, Golden and Michael Mack are all in the Atlantic County Justice Facility awaiting detention hearings.
Abdullah remains in custody while still being treated at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's City Campus.
