Pedestrian fatally struck in Lakewood

A Lakewood man was struck and killed Thursday night. Perets Schinerman, 61, was just east of the Hillside Boulevard crosswalk when he was struck by Michael Wood Jr., 30, of Lakehurst, police said. Wood was traveling east on Route 528 at about 7:45 p.m., according to the report. Schinerman was pronounced dead at 8:11 p.m. No summonses have been issued at this time. As part of the investigation, blood tests will be done along with a cell phone review and a search of the vehicle, pending a search warrant.
