State troopers resuscitate man at Atlantic City airport

  • News

Two state troopers helped save a man at Atlantic City International Airport earlier this week.
The State Police were called to Gate 5 at 12:17 p.m. Monday for an unattended bag. When the owner was identified, they were told that a man had collapsed near Gate 6, police said.
When they arrived, the man was not breathing and had no pulse, according to the report.
Trooper Michael Sitarik, of the Airport Station, immediately began performing CPR on the man while Trooper Scott Stickel, of the Canine Response and Training Unit, retrieved a nearby automated external difibrillator, police said.
The two worked together and — after several cycles of CPR and two additional shocks — the man was resusciated.
AtlantiCare Paramedics, NJANG 177th Fight Wing EMS and Atlantic City Airport EMS arrived shortly after the call and continued to provide first aid, according to the report.
The victim was then transported by ambulance to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s Mainland Mainland Campus in Galloway Township, where he was last listed in stable condition.
