Atlantic City schools will once again return to all-virtual learning next week. "Based on a recent assessment of the current situation, and out of an abundance of caution, the district will close for Hybrid (in-person) instruction and move to Full Remote (virtual) instruction for students and teachers effective" Dec. 14 through Jan. 19, Superintendent Barry Caldwell wrote. The decision comes after there have been reports of COVID-19 instances in some of the schools, with sources telling BreakingAC only instances where teachers have had contact with students are being made public. Last month, teachers and staff staged a call-out protesting unsafe conditions. At a virtual Board of Education meeting Nov. 17, the director of operations insisted the school was safe, with Caldwell saying he might rethink things after Thanksgiving break. Instead, students briefly returned to an all-virtual schedule for the short week before Thanksgiving, with Caldwell saying they would use that time to disinfect the schools.
