Atlantic City weekend offers packed weekend with derby, Star Wars and the Crue

  • Things To Do

A big weekend is coming up.

Not only is it the Kentucky Derby, Star Wars Day and Cinco de Mayo, but Motley Crue is in town for two shows!

Rest up and hydrate because lots of places will be icing up frosty margaritas and mint julips to shake up your Same Ol’ Situation.

Dr. Feelgood is in

Here’s your chance to rock through the ages with gents who have been jamming for decades.

Motley Crue is taking the stage at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on Friday and Saturday.

This is no tribute band. Vince, Nikki and Tommy are in the house. Plus, John 5 is no schlub either.

The iconic band’s opening act is Tommy Conwell & The Young Rumblers. Rounding out an evening of rock epically.

There is still a small smattering of tickets available

After 40 years in the biz and with one original member already retired from touring, the window is beginning to close on seeing these guys live. Don’t miss it.

Choose your tickets wisely, Gen X. Just like Guns and Roses last year, the standing room only section in the front may prove tough on the knees after several hours.

Concerts are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. in Hard Rock Live at Etess Arena.

CLICK for tickets.

Rock on ...

If one night of rock is not enough, you can start your weekend with an intimate evening of Godsmack at Ocean Resort.

Rarely does intimate evening mingle with Boston rock or Ovation Hall for that matter. But here we are.

Godsmack’s Vibez tour features electric and acoustic tunes with stories thrown in between.

If you are into alternative metal influenced by all the greats like Rush, Led Zeppelin and the band’s hometown heroes Aerosmith, get out of work early and head to Ocean.

Orchestra seats are gone, but you can still grab the cheap seats for bargain prices starting at $39!

Find your place in the crowd HERE.

Pro Tip: Villain and Saint is having a Godsmack Preparty from 6 to 8 p.m., with $5 drafts and more.

THE FORCE AND THE FLEA

May the fourth be with you this Saturday.

Whether you are a fan of the Lucas empire or not, you can enjoy a trip to A.C. this weekend.

Showboat is hosting the inaugural Atlantic City Flea Market from noon to 6 p.m. promising vendors, food and giveaways.

Parking for the event is only $5.

You can still purchase a table to vend or grab your free admission tickets HERE.

After you fill your car with bargains, use the force for a second wind to head to Boogie Nights in the Tropicana for May the Fourth Be With You - The Ultimate Star Wars Celebration.

If you haven’t been to Boogie Nights, there is a devoted staff of characters to keep the party going, a light-up dance floor and themed tables available at a minimum spend every weekend. But on May 4, this place will be more exciting than the Mos Eisley Cantina on Tatooine!

As Yoda may say, “disco or do not, there is no try.”

If you do, general admission tickets and private tables can be purchased HERE.

Run for the roses

The 150th running of the Kentucky Derby is also Saturday.

Resorts and the Claridge are two Boardwalk stables that you can take in “the greatest two minutes in sports”.

Head to the VÜE Rooftop Bar from 4 to 7 p.m.for the Triple Crown Mixer.

Look for bourbon tastings, Southern inspired cuisine, specialty cocktails and a cigar bar. Prizes for picking the winning horse and having the best hat.

There are no tickets. Just show up ready for equestrian fanfare.

This is a good choice if someone in your group does not want to be in a casino. Plus, it’s the best panoramic view of the city.

Resorts is partying all day at Bar One with drink specials, a chance at slot dollars and even Kentucky Derby Dancers. You can also visit the promotions booth for complementary beads.

When it’s time for the horses to put on the feedbag, you can too.

Sunday Supper is served every week at Capriccio. Grab this multi-course meal for $45 per person from this award-winning Italian restaurant.

Take 5

You know the margaritas are going to be flowing at every Atlantic City hotspot for Cinco de Mayo until the tequila runs out. Even then, they will probably substitute vodka and continue the fun.

You have the choice of a posh, mysterious, tequila dinner in a secret location or $3 tacos at the Tennessee Avenue Beer Hall from the folks on the Orange Loop.

Details to both events and tequila dinner tickets can be found HERE.

Or, you can go straight to Mexico to celebrate the day.

Mexico Restaurant and Bar, that is.

There’s a live mariachi band starting 5 p.m. They are also featuring a $16 margarita flight.

You’ll need to make reservations. Your dining time is limited to an hour and a half on this particular Sunday. Visit their website for info and to make your reservations.

Wow. All this and we are still in the offseason!

P.S. Mother’s Day is May 12. Here’s your sign to make a reservation.
